The NSW Regional Health Partners Governing Board is delighted to announce the appointment of Associate Professor Nicolette Hodyl as the Director of NSW Regional Health Partners. She will commence in the role on Monday 2 May 2022.
Associate Professor Hodyl PhD is a research specialist and strategist with over 20 years’ academic and consultancy experience in national health organisations, medical research institutes and universities. Nicki was awarded an NHMRC Peter Doherty Biomedical Fellowship at the University of Adelaide in 2011, followed by an MS McLeod Research Fellowship at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Adelaide in 2015. During this time, she worked closely with clinical services to increase research capacity and capability at the Lyell McEwen Hospital, and Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Adelaide. Nicki then founded and led Vertex Health, a well-respected national health research consultancy based in Melbourne before returning to Newcastle in 2021.
In addition to her highly regarded research in preterm neonates and her voluntary work with the Endocrine Society of Australia and Cure4 Cystic Fibrosis, Nicki has guided many health organisations through strategic and operational changes to improved health outcomes and service delivery. This has included strategy development for the NHMRC National Institute for Dementia Research, ARC Centres of Excellence and Healthy Male, as well as policy change to improve access to the NDIS for children with disabilities.
Nicki is no stranger to NSW Regional Health Partners having been a key member of the Translation Committee for the past 12 months and co-writer of our recent application for NHMRC accreditation. We are excited to welcome Nicki to the Director’s role and know that you will join us in wishing her every success.
