The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) has released a new series of case studies highlighting the achievements of Australia’s accredited Research Translation Centres (RTCs) – recognised leaders in turning health and medical research into real-world impact.
As a national alliance of leading health services, research institutions, community organisations and academia, the Australian Health Research Alliance (AHRA) welcomes NHMRC’s recognition of the RTCs’ work in turning health and medical research into real-world impact.
“This recognition from NHMRC highlights the strength of Australia’s national network of Research Translation Centres – Centres that are working together to drive health and medical research into national health improvement,” said Carol Hodgson, Executive Director of Monash Partners Academic Health Science Centre and Chair of AHRA.
“Our shared focus is to ensure research leads to tangible improvements in patient care, population health and health system performance.”
Across Australia, the Research Translation Centres are:
turning health research into real-world impact, ensuring evidence informs policy and practice
working collaboratively to improve clinical trials, health services and clinical practice
providing education and training to build a skilled research-ready and translation-focused workforce
involving end users in research design, ensuring research reflects lived experience and community needs.
“We are driving health and medical research to be translated and embedded into healthcare, to ultimately improve health outcomes, health equity and the health economy in Australia.”
“Together, the collective achievements of the Centres are creating a truly transformed and connected health research ecosystem,” said Carol Hodgson.
The publication of these case studies demonstrates NHMRC’s acknowledgement of the Centres’ collective impact – translating research excellence into better health and wellbeing outcomes for individuals and communities nationwide.
