Consumer Advocates, Networks and Professional Organisations
What is it about?
There are a number of organisations who represent consumers and advocate for their involvement in health and medical research.
Health Consumers NSW is a membership-based, independent, not-for-profit organisation that promotes and practises consumer engagement within the NSW health sector. They aim to create meaningful partnerships between consumers, the health sector and policy-makers.
Consumer Health Forum of Australia is the national peak body representing the interests of Australian healthcare consumers. The organisation has developed fact sheets informing consumers on a range of health topics.
INVOLVE was established in 1996 and is part of, and funded by, the National Institute for Health Research. It supports active public involvement in the NHS’s public health and social care research activities. It is one of the few government-funded program of its kind in the world.
NSW Regional Health Partners respectfully acknowledge Aboriginal people as the past, present and future traditional custodians of the land and recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture. We aim to partner with the Elders, community members and community controlled health services to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal people.
